Metabo HPT has introduced Cordless Pneumatics, a line of five 18V nailers that it describes as a new category for North America. According to the company’s September 2 announcement, the tools store and release compressed air inside the tool itself, so a framer does not need a compressor, hose or gas cartridge on site. Rollout began in September 2026.
What Metabo HPT says the line does
The maker calls the mechanism Air Spring Drive System Plus. It quotes a firing speed of up to six nails per second and says an Enhanced Lift Mechanism doubles shot frequency over the previous generation, a claim attributed to Bernd Fleischmann, CTO of KOKI Group. On an 18V MultiVolt 10.0Ah T-PWR Tabless battery, the maker rates the 21 degree framing nailer at up to 1,170 nails per charge.
The five models are:
- NR1890DRBQRY, 18V 21 degree framing nailer, plastic strip, round head
- NR1890DCBQRY, 18V 30 degree framing nailer, paper strip, clipped head
- NV1890DAQRY, 18V 15 degree coil framing nailer
- NR1865DKAQRY, 18V metal connector nailer
- NR1875DDAQRY, 18V duplex forming nailer

Specs from the NR1890DRBQRY page
Metabo HPT’s own product page lists the 21 degree model at 7.9 lbs without the battery, with a 2.2 lbs battery on top. It lists 120 J of driving energy, a 68 nail magazine, nails from 2” to 3-1/2” long, bump and sequential firing, a dry-fire lockout, an LED light and tool-less depth adjustment. The warranty is lifetime on the tool body, 2 years on the battery and 1 year on the charger. Select models take interchangeable magazines, but the maker says that does not apply to the coil framing nailer.
Price, stores and Canada
The release says kits start at $579 and include the nailer, a 5.0Ah or 10.0Ah MultiVolt battery, a rapid charger, a magazine and a bag. It does not state a currency. ToolGuyd, which covered the launch, lists $579 for both framing nailers and $599 for the coil, metal connector and duplex models, and says the previous generation framing nailers cost $479. Metabo HPT names independent retailers, Lowe’s stores nationwide and online sellers as channels. Neither source gives Canadian pricing or a Canadian retailer for the new line.
Canadian readers can see that Metabo HPT lists an older cordless framing nailer, the NR1890DR, as a Canada only model. It is rated at up to 2 nails per second and up to 400 nails per charge on a compact 3.0Ah battery, so the new line is a very different tool. Check with Metabo HPT or a local dealer before assuming the new kits are stocked in Canada.

What it means for crews
Metabo HPT argues that compressor setup, hose management and teardown can eat up to 45 minutes a day, roughly 150 hours per framer per year. That is the company’s estimate, not an independent measurement, and ToolGuyd notes the weight and dimensions were not in the release.
Who it suits
- Professional framers: the speed and nail count are the headline claims, but check the weight and balance in hand before replacing an air nailer.
- Crews already on MultiVolt batteries: the 18V/36V packs may be shared, so confirm which battery ships in your kit.
- Renovation contractors: working without a hose or compressor suits tight sites, but $579 is a higher entry price than a corded air setup.
- Serious DIYers: the kit price is steep for occasional use, so it fits only large framing projects.
- Canadian buyers: wait for confirmed Canadian availability and pricing.
