Milwaukee Tool has two small rechargeable lights that have not had much attention yet: the 2016R Rechargeable Flat Flashlight with Green Laser and the 2014R Rechargeable Clip Light. Canadian Occupational Safety reported in May 2026 that the family of three new personal lights, which also includes the 2015R pivoting task light, would reach stores in June 2026. Both lights below use USB-C charging and a built-in battery.

2016R flat flashlight: four modes and a laser

According to Milwaukee’s product page, the 2016R has four output levels:

  • Boost: 1,300 lumens
  • High: 800 lumens, rated for 2 hrs
  • Medium: 300 lumens, rated for 6 hrs
  • Low: 50 lumens, rated for 12 hrs

Milwaukee does not give a runtime for Boost, so treat it as a short burst for checking a dark corner rather than a working mode.

Bar chart of 2016R runtime by brightness: 800 lumens 2 hours, 300 lumens 6 hours, 50 lumens 12 hours Milwaukee’s listed runtime for each 2016R brightness level, in lumens and hours. Boost has no runtime listed.

The light carries an IP67 dust and water rating and a 6 ft drop rating. It also has a Class 2, 1 mW green laser that Milwaukee describes as being for communication, an integrated imperial and metric ruler, and a removable metal clip for a pocket or shirt. A 2 ft USB-C cable ships in the box.

2014R clip light: hands free at 300 lumens

The 2014R is the simpler of the two. Milwaukee’s Canadian product page lists 300 lumens for 3 hrs on High and 100 lumens for 5 hrs on Low, with two independent light panels and a head that pivots 165 degrees. It has a magnetic base and a clip with a 1/2 inch opening for a cap, a shirt or a surface. Its rating is IP54, so it is protected against dust and splashes but is not rated like the 2016R. The drop rating is 6 ft, and both lights carry a 2 year warranty.

Because the 2014R is listed on milwaukeetool.ca, Canadian readers can look for it there. Milwaukee’s page for the 2016R shows no price and does not state Canadian availability, so check with a retailer first.

Prices

Milwaukee does not list prices on either product page. Pro Tool Reviews, in its roundup of Milwaukee’s PIPELINE announcements, listed the clip light at $59.97 and the flat flashlight with green laser at $74.97, both shown as available now. Those are US figures from that outlet, and Canadian pricing has not been published in the sources we reviewed.

Who it suits

Electricians and HVAC technicians. The 2016R’s flat body fits a pocket, and 1,300 lumens helps when reading a panel or looking up a duct. The runtime drops quickly at the higher levels, so plan to charge it daily if you use High often.

Trades working overhead or with both hands busy. The 2014R’s magnet and clip let the light stay on a beam or a hat brim. Its maximum of 300 lumens is modest, so it suits close work more than lighting a room.

Homeowners and first time buyers. Both are USB-C, so a phone charger can top them up. Check that you are comfortable with a built-in battery, since neither light is described as having a replaceable one.

Crew and fleet buyers. The 2 year warranty and shared USB-C charging simplify stocking a crew. Wet sites favour the IP67 2016R over the IP54 2014R.
