Milwaukee has added the M18 REDLITHIUM High Output XC5 battery, model 48-11-1855, to its lineup. The 5 Ah pack is positioned as a stronger replacement for the REDLITHIUM XC5.0 that M18 owners already know, and it is one of several new packs announced at the company’s Pipeline 2026 event.

What Milwaukee claims

According to Milwaukee’s product page, the pack delivers 50% more power than the REDLITHIUM XC5.0 and sits at PWR Level 3 on the company’s M18 REDLITHIUM power scale. It works with 300+ M18 tools and carries a built in fuel gauge with an improved button. REDLINK intelligence handles overcharge protection and communication between the tool, the battery and the charger.

The pack has been redesigned for durability. The page says it diverts water away from the electronics, limits heat and guards against failures caused by vibration or drops. Milwaukee backs it with a 3 year warranty. The page does not list weight, runtime figures or charge times, and these are all manufacturer claims, not independent test results.

Price, versions and timing

Power Tools Insider, in a post updated on October 24, 2026, reports that the XC5 is $169 and shipping from September 2026. The same article lists an oil resistant version, the XC5 Resistant (48-11-1855R), at $209, aimed at people who work around petroleum, grease and solvents. It also covers the larger FORGE HD15 (48-11-1819) at $379 for January 2027, which Milwaukee says delivers 50% more power than the M18 High Output 12Ah pack and reaches 80% charge in roughly 25 minutes.

Those prices are manufacturer MSRP and may vary by retailer. Power Tools Insider says most of the new items are Home Depot exclusives and gives no Canada specific pricing or availability, so Canadian readers should check milwaukeetool.ca and local Home Depot Canada listings before planning a purchase.

Who it suits

  • Professional tradespeople on M18: the 50% claim matters most on high draw tools such as saws and grinders. Check how your own tools perform, since Milwaukee has not published runtime data on the page.
  • Crew and fleet buyers: the 3 year warranty and the oil resistant version are worth pricing together. Confirm Canadian supply first.
  • Serious DIYers already on M18: the pack fits more than 300 tools, so it can replace a tired 5 Ah battery. Compare the cost against the older XC5.0 if you rarely work a tool hard.
  • First time buyers: look at a starter kit rather than a single battery, and check whether a kit includes this pack.

What to check before you buy

Compare the price with older 5 Ah packs, look for independent runtime tests, and confirm Canadian availability. For heavy work, the FORGE HD15 will not arrive until January 2027.
